Remember that when we buy things out of season, they're normally imported or
have many transport kms attatched, just not god for the environment.
Thanks for posting this list,
Jade.

Chinese garlic is a real issue right now. When you cook it, it goes blue!
Not sure if that's just theirs, or some of ours does too. But my mother (who
is a horticulturalist) says that all their garlic we're getting right now is
waaaay out of season, and so has been treated with some chemical (which sets
off her chemical allergies).

It is a real concern that we're importing increasing amounts of food from
China, when every report is of un-regulated growing and processing
practices.

consuming unfiltered human waste and toxic materials alarms me

Have you heard of Diggers Club? You can get many different types of garlic
from them, and they're really easy to grow. I had a bad migraine the other
day, two days after eating a large amount of garlic... I wonder if it has
something to do with it?
I remember my natropath putting me onto 2 cloves of garlic in my cooking a
day. Boy did I feel good! Lovely garlic is so good for you, and makes you
feel so well.

You're welcome, not to mention the most important reason: food tastes better
in season. :)
