"Climatologists, are pessimistic that political leaders will take any positive action to compensate for the climatic change. ... The
longer the planners delay, the more difficult will they find it to cope with climatic change once the results become grim reality."

Sound Familiar?

This is a 1975 quote from Newsweek about "THE COMING ICE AGE"!!!!!!!

Thank God they did nothing. Imagine how warm we'd be?

**You idiot. Newsweek has not, nor has it ever been a journal of scientific
reference. Try again. You'll find that global warming has been predicted
since the 1970s.

**You idiot.
You're the idiot. You shouldn't be cross posting this political crap to
most of the groups that you're posting to.

And yet you felt the need to make THREE SEPERATE POSTS,
Yes, to three separate people, three different posts. Maybe someone will
finally get the message.
crossposted to
buggery, slagging people (including Trevor, an aus.cars regular) off for
crossposting off-topic nonsense everywhere.
Yes, cross posted to all the groups of the OPs so that everyone will get
the message that off comment, cross posts aren't welcome here.
GET OVER IT!
You get over it.

You're being way too optimistic there.

Besides, the original poster ("Bonzo") likely doesn't even give half a
shit. He's trolling for replies, to cause a disturbance and piss people
off in the entire aus.* hierachy.

Looks like he succeeded, funnily enough.

Best of luck with that. And welcome to Usenet.

TIME magazine, in this week's issue, mentions Svante Arrhenius, a Swedish
chemist, who in the 1890s warned about the effects of pumping carbon dioxide
into the atmosphere. He was awarded a Nobel prize in 1903 for something
unrelated, so he was no simpleton.
So at least one person was predicting global warming long before 1970.

Just like many present day eggspurts, he was dead wrong.

The major influences on climate are water vapour and clouds, the variation in global cloud cover being driven by variations in solar
activity, hence resulting in climatic variations.

CO2 is a MINOR PLAYER in climatic variations.

Sorry to burst your bubble baby, but the CONSENSUS (There's that ugly word again!) amongst eggspurts at the time was of a coming ice
age.

Check your facts.

Newsweek was reporting the CONSENSUS amongst eggspurts!

And this consensus, as on many previous occasions (and most likely on many future occasions), turned out to be DEAD WRONG!

What I think is funny about things like the kyoto protocal thing, is that if
everyone followed it, at best its estimate to have a net effect of 0.07
degrees in 2050... meanwhile variation in sun radiation is meant to be as
much as 5 degrees...
