hi, i have made an muesli bar sort of slice a few times - taste delish.
actually i got the recipe from delicious.

the prob is it doesnt bind together too well - main ingredients are oats and
other dry ingredients, mixed with a melted butter golden syrup combo - the
butter mixture seems to sink to the bottom of the recipe a bit, and whilst
the top of the slice is well bound, the bottom part crumbles.

still tastes great, but tricky for the kids lunch boxes.

i wondered if it needed flour??? also, i may be undercooking it as i am
paranoid about it burning. maybe i put foil over it and use a different
oven setting as well to cook the bottom more....

any ideas

When I make a similar thing, I have to work a fair bit at mixing the
liquid into the dry ingredients. I tend to add the liquid in stages
rather than pour it in all at once.

You might want to increase the amount of liquid a little bit.

but if the liquid (melted butter and golden syrup) seems to sink to the
bottom, wouldnt more of teh same make it worse?

perhaps there's too much then?

When I do it, I have to work quite hard to have all the dry stuff
moistened enough to stick together. There's no spare liquid.

Ive found a similar problem with a recipe I have - not from Delicious, but
an older one from maybe the 1970s or early 80s. Haven't yet found a
solution, but like you, I was wondering about adding flour.
