Folks,

I was thinking about this as I poured the afternoon coffee into my cup.

Does anyone make savoury beverages (like cuppa soups etc) that have caffeine in
them?

There are times when a savoury beverage would be preferred, but I'd still like a
bit of a wake-up call as well. When I say savoury, I mean more than simply
coffee/tea with no sugar.

Bonox with a spoonfull of good old Blend43??

Never seen such a beast, but I thought I'd ask. Reminds me of the homemade
'Buzz' beer from Drew Carey; coffee, and beer combined into one handy drink!

How about you do the experimenting and report back? I'm pretty adventurous
with food, but there's a line here that I'd rather watch someone else cross
first!

If they can brew beer with chocolate in (http://www.redoak.com.au/02_11.html
-- DH thought it was OK but not massively appetising), surely they can brew it
with coffee?

Have you thought of writing a blog to go with the photos, Rod?

Chookie,

Thanks for the idea, but I was wondering if anyone had already gotten bored
enough to try something like this...

I have thought about a blog for the photos, but I am yet to put the ideas into
action..I do write stories about some of them, but Flickr doesnt allow a Blog
setup (yet).

You need to mix with more university students. I remember some friends of
ours made themselves chocolate milkshakes and forgot to put the leftovers
away. By the time any of them realised (yep, they were blokes), the mixture
was sufficiently "interesting" that they let it continue to develop. They
ended up with chocolate cheese, I believe, but nobody was game to try it
(something to do with the mould coating).

Ah, uni days, circa 1991! And my friends were considerably more civilised
than those in 'He died with a felafel in his hand'!

Maybe you could put chilli in some hot chocolate? In Mexico they put
chocolate in their chilli concontions.

Actually, the chilli Tim Tams were pretty interesting....in a good
way.

chilli goes with chocolate so well. And chocolate is a wonderful secret
ingredient in many savoury things.

Can you still buy No-Doze tablets at the chemist? Can't say I've seen
them or even looked for them since my teen years, but they are a fairly
innocuous caffeine hit.

A couple of these crushed into something would have to be an improvement
on coffee flavoured soup.

Yes, you can buy those No-Doze tablets, and I'd forgotten I have a box I bought
last year! I should try a couple in soup!
