Does anybody know if it is possible to buy Emu Eggs and if so, where from?
And by this i mean fresh eggs, not dried out ornamental.

Wondering what a fried emu egg tastes like.

Imagine the size of any omlete made too :)

Clint

You would have to be very careful where you source emu eggs them from; they are
protected fauna, and so the only (legal) option would be from a certified emu
farm. I doubt many of the emu farms would be selling eggs for eating.

Our neighbour made scrambled emu eggs many, many years ago, and it looked like a
very big version of the chicken variety. I think one egg pretty much filled the
frypan.

The eggshell on an emu egg is so fabulous, it seems a crime to break them...

Thanks for the reply Rod.

I will source this out.

My ultimate aim would be to truly australianise the pavlova and make a pav
from emu egg :)

Cheers,
Clint

You mean as an attempt to take it back from New Zealand?
