I'm just curious. How many people go camping and cook over an open
fire? How many people cook over the BBQ.

I cooked my first meal on a BBQ when I was 16 (in scouts many years
ago). I am an avid camper and prefer my food cooked over an open fire.
The camp oven is my best friend. You have not had a roast until you
have had one cooked in a camp oven. And Pizza - until you have had one
bush style - you have not lived.

When all around are eating religiously cremated chops and sausages and
you are sitting back with a roast lamb with baked spuds , pumpkin and
onion or a curried chicken cooked in the camp oven ! Its a good
feeling.

Any good recipes??

Mary had a little lamb
Its fleece was white and wispy.
Then it caught Foot and Mouth Disease
And now it's black and crispy.

I often camp, but cook on a gas burner.

Err yes, I've lived but without having cooked pizza 'bush style'.

My camping meals never comprise cremated chops etc. More like bagel
and smoked salmon for breakfast, spaghetti (sauce from fresh
ingredients including herbs) for dinner ... smoked oysters and a
vodka while the sauce is simmering ... I manage quite well without
an open fire.
