After trial and error, I just made one that I can honestly say is equal to
any I've tried in any Thai restaurant in Australia....

Ok I know it's cheating, but I used a can of Volcom Tom Yum soup as a base
and some of their tom yum paste. If you've tasted it on it's own, you'll
know it's rather plain.

Here's what I did.

5 prawn head in about a litre of water and boil for 10 mins then strain.
Add the can of soup and a teaspoon of paste
tablespoon of fish sauce
juice of half a lime
about 4 dry kaffir lime leaves
a few slices of tomato
a bunch of fresh coriander roots crushed
and a teaspoon of sugar
mushrooms

Let that lot boil away for 15 mins then throw in prawn meat, chicken is nice
too.
ad the coriander leaves and a squeeze of lime juice

Maybe need to ad some water if it's too salty.
I'm eating TY soup 3 times a week now.....Yummo!

Depends how long I've boiled the coriander. Sometimes it gets so soft you
can eat it. Mine doesn't come out too hot actually, maybe the lime juice
kills the chilli.

or maybe you werent stupid enough to just blob in way too much paste without
having a clue how hot it would be
