Hi...I notice that the last new post was on 28/10..So I probably won't have
a suggestion for tonight..:-(

I have some 'Belly Ribs' that I bought today...I was looking for a quick
(and very tasty) recipe to cook them tonight...Just for myself...Any quick
tried and tested idea's out there...I usually eat late..:-))

A quick simple recipe with belly pork ribs

- 500g belly pork ribs

- 1 tbsp sugar

- 2 or 3 tbspn black soya sauce : the thick treacly type (Something like
kecap manis - DO NOT USE THE LIGHT SOYA SAUCE OR IT'LL TASTE YUCKY)

- 1 or 2 star anise seed

- 1 teaspoon five spice powder

- Salt and pepper to taste

- Half cup water or 1 cup water if you like it a bit more soupy

Chuck the lot into a pot and bring to boil than turn it down to a very low
simmer until the skin on the belly pork ribs are tender.

Serve with rice or bread and of cos a large helping of salad.

Ah, Kechup Manis ... I haven't used any since breakfast today!

Possibly one of the most important cooking ingredients around.

Funny, none of the 'celebrity' chefs seem to use it!

:) It is good stuff when you want a dish to have a really dark colour. A
tiny bit, eg a teaspoon, goes a long long way :)
